PEOPLES . it's been long since i last posted.

well, the blog seems to be dead without anyone posting. so why not you guys can start posting about daily issues etc?

anyway, i was smsing ms lim on teachers' day. she ask me to send her regards to you guys. see, she stills remember us ! *hope you guys still remember her.

anyway, school's reopening like in 2 days time ? in less than 48 hours ? do remember to finish the projects and homeworks.

2 e5's gonna be broke up in less than 3 months time. well, hope you guys can treasure the times you had now with our class. we will still be friends, but we may not have the chance to be together as a class anymore. as we will all be busy over our sec 3 work etc.

Hey peeps !

Though Ms Toh wasn't here today, the class contest for "Sudoku" was kind of a success. I saw many people trying very hard to think of the answers, but very sad, i saw many people not bothering as well. I know the question is not easy, but at least give us (singyun and me) face and try doing right ?

We took lots of time preparing this. Yet ... Forget it. Never mind. Hope more people will try it out next time.

Let's congratulate all these e5 peeps. they were the one who will get the prizes as they were the first five to complete the quiz !!

It's been a long day. I believe. We had lessons, assembly and rehearsal. The rehearsal was nice, though Ms Toh wasn't here. You guys were really high during rehearsal.

We will be the first class to perform instead of the last. Thus the tables do not need to be moved here and there.

Anyway, I believe our spirits won't be dampen, right?

Regarding the Class Contest, some people have been coming up to me and asking me about it. Yup. SingYun and I have decided to put it up on the 1st week of August. Hope more people will participate in the Class Contest ! This term onwards, the contest will gonna be fun. Trust me. it's general questions.

Nothing much to add on. Just remember to bring Class T-shirt on 27 July, Thursday. it's going to be a full-dress rehearsal.

The NDP rehearsal today was nice. Well, it reminds me of the times we had during the Sec 2 level camp. Especially the time when we had a hard time learning the song 'Guan Huai Fang Shi'. Some girls were so frustrated when teaching. But they held on to it ... And the time when we perform the song, 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, ABC and Guan Huai Fang Shi'. it's heart-warming ... really ...

For those who didn't went for the camp, it's alright. As we can 'experience' the kind of unity when performing now. The feeling's great, isn't it?

I think better behaviour will make our day better, right? Think you guys agree too. So, put on our best behaviour for the rest of the rehearsals ok?

I was thinking through what Chief Denise said during campfire night. What she says really strikes me. ''Treasure the time you have now with your classmates. For all you know,you might not get into the same class next year!'' Even if you don't remember what she says, i bet you guys still remember this, right?

Remember the time when King Kong Mama(Marvin) told us to close our eyes and bend down our head? And he talk to us about the times we had during the camp? What he says is really true. Thinking back, it's heart-warming too, right?

Well, school's reopening soon. In like, six days' time. I find it rather pathetic though. Sec Two Level camp was, no doubt, enjoyable. Camp was great. I hope some of you have grown closer to some of our classmates whom you never thought you'd be good friends with. Some of you saw how I blew my top, and shouting at the class like some psychotic woman during camp. For that, I'm sorry. It's hard to get everyone's attention when they're all busy with their mini conversations. Especially with some people who are uncooperative. Heh.

Why don't you all put yourselves into the leader's shoes ? Really, it's difficult. Now I can understand how Ms Toh feels when we don't complete our assignments on time - frustrated. Okay okay, I'm not here to be a wet blanket or whatsoever. But I only wish to see our class, 2E5, be more united. We stand as a class, not individuals. We're left with only around four more months before we graduate and go on to other classes. Just like what Chief Denise said on campfire night, "Treasure the times you guys are sharing with your dearest classmates now, before you get seperated into different classes next year." Although we may still be in the same school, we'll never be able to share that closeness and togetherness we once did. Yes, of course some of us may have our own friendship problems with our classmates. I have my own too.

Maybe we can just work things out a little bit ? And enjoy what we can, while we still can. Take care of yourselves, aye (: I LOVE YOU GUYS !

Well, hope that your are happy with your combined grades. As most of the combined grades are better than the Mid-Year Paper grades. Well, since im here, i might as well talk about the class contest.

The contest might be stop for the time being as we don't know if we are going back to the class tomorrow. If we go back to class tomorrow,we might have 2 questions for may. I'll talk to SingYun about it. So,you guys just have to wait to take part for the class contest.

I guess this is a long-awaited post... :)
I'm thinking of giving everyone the password to this blog, since it's the class' blog, not mine alone.. So, what do you guys think! Yes, school has been very busy for me as well, so posts are not oftenly posted.. I'll do try to at least blog one in 2 days from now on!

A good suggestion from me is that once everyone agrees to get the pass to this blog, I do hope you guys will agree to write articles on your views of our class, how people think of our class, and how you think our class is doing in the year 2006!

I think it will enable people to know that we, 2e5, ain't the stupidest Express class in the school, like how countless people think about us. To me (Alastair), I really do not like the fact on how they think of our class. Haven't they realised how we did for the EOYs last year? I thought we did rather greatly last year, with our class' Top 5/6 getting the level Top 25 positions..

I thought it was rather weird for the school to randomly class our students from E3 onwards, but what's done is done, now all we can do is to prove to people that we ain't the stupidest Express class (which we are not, technically speaking), and prove to them that we can actually reach to the E1/E2 standard!

Just my two cents.

Disclaimer: This post is not meant to offend people of other classes, and I'm not saying that everyone in the school thinks like the rest, but perhaps quite a handful of pupils.

Come on E5, let's show the rest of the school what we're made of! >:)

Hello hello.. Here to update again..

Ummm the judging day has been extended *again* from last Friday to this coming Wednesday!! That means we've time to prepare and 'ADORN' our classroom further!!

We're still in the midst of having our fellow classmates to print out chinese characters so that we can have them pasted on our tables, and make our class look 'redder' and 'auspicious'-er!! LOL

Anyway, Sing Yun will most probably use the class funds to purchase a stack of red construction paper for us so we ought to thank her!! :P

Our back noticeboard (noticeboard no. 4) has been beautifully enhanced and beautified by our hardworking and faithful classmates who has sacrificed their time for using their pcs to help us decorate the noticeboard!! Be sure to at least take note of how beautiful it is tomorrow ok!! Hahas.

Apart from the class decorations, people who have not paid for the Pupil's Handbook must have them paid by tomorrow (Monday, 23rd Jan).. It costs $3.20 and do try to give Hui Yi (our Treasurer) the exact amount of money 'to avoid a long queue'.

ALSO, Miss Yeo has been crazily strict about CCA attendance.. So just a reminder, if you're unsure of when CCA starts, do confront your CCA leaders, or your teacher(s) in-charge! You won't Miss Yeo to go after you like some hunter whatsoever.. I'm not saying that there are people who have been playing truant lah!! Our class, so far for me, haven't any complaints for me.. So I hope it's true.. those who unluckily got into a CCA not of your desired choice, at least go and attend the CCA, instead of playing truant. At least, for your CCA Points sake, get a 100% and at least get some points at the end of the year, and choose a new CCA next year. Again, I'm not saying that these people are playing truant..!! Just a reminder lah.. Cos' it'll be qeird if Miss Yeo comes to our class and calls people out.. Just because they haven't attended any CCA training yet.

Take Note: I'm not saying that our class has people playing truant.
This is just a reminder to not let Miss Yeo chase after you :)

CNY Decorations must be up by Friday, but Miss Toh plans to finish it by this Wednesday!
So, anybody who's free can chip in lah, don't have to buy any items since we're recycling stuff.. So, don't know what to bring leh.. Toilet paper @_@ Maybe more cans, not sure, will update again.

CCAs has started, and most of them start at 3.30pm, so within the period of 1.40 to around 3-3.15pm, everyone can 'work' in the classroom and get our classroom decorations done!! :D

But for people who just don't have the time, I'm sure our fellow classmates with understand lorz.. Don't push yourself too hard, but of course lah, if you can, maybe even a 15 minute stay back in class will help :P

School has began to pick up speed, and homework has started to pour in.. So everyone jia you, and get adapted to this cycle (of waking up early, sleeping late :P) and hopefully we'll all be okay when we get into the right mode, since school has only started for 2 weeks (if i'm not wrong).

One blink of an eye.
Just one blink.
And the year passes soooo fast.

One blink of an eye last year, we came to Pei Hwa and made friends, and united as E5.
One blink of an eye, Mrs Song left us, with Miss Toh taking her place.
One blink of an eye, Miss Lim left us, with Mr Nizam taking her place.
One blink of an eye, Miss Kwan left us, with Mr Lim and Mr Tan taking her place.

Geography:

Chapter 30:

Deaths and Births affect population growth

A sudden uncrease in population = population explosion.

World population explosion in the 1900s due to rise in births and fall in deaths.

Many people in the past died because of war, famine and disease.

This improved when technology improved. Medical care, hygiene and living conditions became better. Food supply increased as well.

All those resulted to people having a longer life span.

Africa, Asia and South America populations are the main rapid growth of population

Birth rate = How many births / 100 people

Death rate = How many deaths / 1000 people

Low BR = < br =" 20" br =" "> 30

Very Low DR = < dr =" 10" dr =" 15" dr =" "> 20

When BR <> Population decrease
When BR > DR ---> Population increase
When BR = DR ---> Zero Growth Rate

3 types of Population Pyramids
Triangular-shaped (eg. Philippines, India, Indonesia)
Rectangular-shaped (eg. Japan)
Beehive-shaped (eg. Singapore)

Triangular-shaped = ^ DR, ^ BR
Rectangular-shaped = DR and BR almost the same
Beehive-shaped = Fewer young people than old people

Chapter 31:

Population distribution = the way which people spread over an area

2 main factors that influence population distribution:
1) Physical conditions of the place
2) Level of technology (knowledge, skills, tools,) that the people have

More people settle on land with fertile soil and less harsh climates.

That's why river delta such as the Nile Delta in Egypt are densely populated.

It's possible for people to survive under harsh climates.
Because with improvement of technology, places unsuitable for people can become suitable
EG. Place without water. But people can make a channel to have water coming in from elsewhere.

Formula to calculate Population Density = Total number of people / Area of land

High Population Density = >/= 200 people / sq km
Moderate Population Density = 10 - 200 people / sq km
Low Population Density = < size="4">Chapter 32:

Most rapid growth in population:
Africa, South America and some parts of Asia.
India is one of the countries in Asia experiencing this.

v DR, ^ BR = Rapid Population Growth

Factors leading to low DR:

Better medical care (infant mortality rate = deaths of babies per 1000 live births)
Better hygiene (people have a lower chance of falling sick and contracting diseases)

Factors leading to high BR:

Better health care (so that can ensure baby is born healthy)
Early marriages (have a higher chance of having alot of babies)
Lack of information on family planning (they won't know how much is enough)
Preference of sons (couples want sons to carry on the generation)
Need for human labour (need lots of children to help to earn a living for the family)

Chapter 33:

Consequences of Rapid Population Growth:

Competition of jobs (more people will be competing for the same job)
Competition for housing (more people will be competing for land, so some people will not live in a good house)
Educational opportunities (in poorer countries, there may be shortage of teachers so not all children could obtain an education)

Controlling Rapid Population Growth:

Incentives and penalties (eg. one-child policy)
Education on family planning (so couples can plan on having a family)

Oh yes, try bringing loose change on Monday since it's the stall and games thingy..
And it'll be troublesome if you show them a $10 note and then they'll have a hard time giving change back to you..

For ting xie as you know, you have to read the whole chapter because Mr Boo didn't tell us what words he will be testing us.. Make sure you all go and learn the words you don't know.. Btw ting xie is using the 'gao zi' which is the foolscap paper for chinese..
